In this class, we will learn how to use Unity, and make our own world.
If you open the Unity, you can see this screen. Click the ‘New project’ button.
Make your own project name, and select the location to save. Make sure that your files in safe. I recommend you to save in Dropbox.
After creating your own project, click Window > Layout > Default.
This is our base layout. And I dragged the Game tab to the left.
In the Assets, there will be the place of all the stuff you have. So if you want to make this project not heavy, you should clean and organize this place well.
You can download some standard assets in the asset store. I downloaded Standard Assets. After you finish download, import.
Now, we will make our own awesome terrain.
First, click GameObject > 3D Object > Terrain.
You can move or rotate the view by ‘option key’.
Keep your terrain 0/0/0. (beginnig code)
Right side of your screen you can see the Inspector.
You can make mountains with Brushes like this. There are various sizes of brush, and you can control the Opacity. (*Your mountain should be inside in Main Camera boundary.)
If you want to modify or remove some of your mountains, use ‘shift key’ to remove.
And the third tab can smooth your mountain height.
After you made your own mountain, let’s cover with some texture!
You can add some texture in the fourth tab.
Yay~ Now your mountain looks like more real!
You can put some trees, grasses and change some texture! Customize yourself!
So fun!! But be careful, too much trees and grasses can make your project heavy.
Let’s put some other objects, too! I downloaded piano, photobooth, idol.
You can just drag and drop the piano to the scene. (the second one)
Top of the left side, there’s some tools. You can transform the scale by fourth tab.
I made it bigger. And you can rotate piano also with third tab.
You can also put a Photobooth! So awesome.
Super idol Family. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy.
I put zombie, too.
We can also change our sky color. I downloaded ‘sky5X’ from asset store.
Go to Window > Lighting.
Click the little circle next to the Skybox. You can choose the sky you like.
Now, we are ready to walk around our map.
Delete the Main Camera.
Standard Assets > Characters > Prefabs > FPSController
Now drag and drop the FPSController to the middle of your scene.
Make sure your character fully over the ground.
And in the FPSController Inspector, inside the ‘mouse Look’ you can see that Lock Cursor is checked. Please uncheck Lock Cursor.
Now your world is ready. Let’s play!!
My beautiful idol Family.
I feel like a tiny kid. Too big telephonebooth for me.
I’m so excited to learn this Unity! I will make my own game real soon!!
